Shaolin Jazz – The 37th Chamber

November 21, 2011 at 7:00 am

My man Gerald Watson sent me the first single to this remix project almost A YEAR ago, and it took me about 4 months to actually listen to it (I’m guilty of that quite often).  I did some youtube diggin and found this really interesting video describing this project, which strived to examine the essence of the jazz music and wu tang clan songs that are involved.  I’m enjoying everything about this project, from the posters to the videos.

Herbie Hancock “Maiden Voyage”

October 30, 2011 at 11:28 am

Played this for breakfast this morning…One of the first Blue Note LP’s I bought quite a while back.  Found this at Aron’s Records, an amazing used record store in Hollywood that ended up closing due to, in my opinion, Amoeba coming to town.  This was one of those spots where you could find some amazing gems in the dollar bins!
